THE GATHERINGS ON ZOOM
Next Session Weds 5th May at 2.30pm
Tell me more about Halesworth! A chance to share stories, memories and thoughts about the town at the first in a series of online get-togethers. The aim is to gather material for the 'Halesworth Whispers' community poem. Bring pen and paper (just in case you want to scribble something down) or just join in with the conversation. It would be lovely to meet up and I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk to about!
To attend the session you'll need to have the Zoom application on your computer/laptop/tablet/phone.
I've made a 'colourful' introduction to Zoom, which you can view by clicking here.
Halesworth Thoroughfare and smile, April 2021
In March 2021 Suffolk Artlink awarded me the Celebrating Us residency in Halesworth. This short-term residency aims to tackle loneliness in communities across Suffolk through creative and cultural activity.
My mission is to create a community video poem about the town, gathering content from locals and connecting with isolated individuals. I need to collect lots of local stories, experiences and memories which I'll turn into one big video poem which will be shared online in May.
I've been longing for an opportunity to run this kind of project in Halesworth because of my deep connections with the town where I've worked since 2003. Here's how you can help make the poem:
30/45 minute chats with isolated people about the town where they live, to generate lines for the 'Halesworth Whispers' poem.
90 minute sessions online with small groups to stimulate conversation and ideas which can generate content for the community poem. The second of these sessions will take place later this month (see booking details form on this page).
Would you like to help me gather lines, thoughts, stories or photos from your family, friends and neighbours. I will provide 'prompts' which can be perfect conversation starters to generate content for the poem. Let's get people talking about Halesworth!
Do get in touch via my contact page if you'd like to get involved.
The Celebrating Us residency is devised and awarded
by Suffolk Artlink and DanceEast, funded by Arts Council England.
